Rapid City, Michigan –
Obituary: Patricia Jane Rowe, age 79, of Rapid City, Michigan and St. James City, Florida passed away suddenly on April 20th, 2025.
Born on January 11, 1946 in Jackson, Michigan to the late Dr. Ronald and Phyllis (Tuohy) Waldby; Pat was raised in Traverse City, and was a 1964 graduate of Traverse City Central High School.
Pat was a champion for the down-trodden, lonely, and afflicted. She was deeply compassionate for the underdog and was generous in support of people in need.
She enjoyed collecting and (at times) selling antiques and loved 1950s DooWop music. A lifelong Detroit Tiger fan, Pat cheered wildly for her team and favorite players from Harvey Kueen to Max Scherzer.
Combining her love of baseball and her sewing skills, Pat labored for two years to create a baseball quilt with over 60 hand-sewn baseball card panels plus other hand embroidered items. Upon completion, the quilt was put on public display at the Traverse City library.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Jerry, brother Ramon (Kay) Waldby of St. George, Utah, son Ron (Melissa) of Doylestown, Ohio, grandchildren Robert, Matthew, Andrew, Gianna, and Marina, and great-grandson Robert.
As was her desire, Pat’s remains will be scattered along the shores of Lake Superior on the Keweenaw Peninsula in a family ceremony on August 6th, 2025.
