Obituary for Marlene Kay Milliman
Marlene Kay Milliman, 77, of Kalkaska, passed away suddenly on September 5, 2024 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born on October 8, 1946 in Traverse City to the late F. “Mike” and Beverly (Ghastin) Riley. Marlene began her career with Ma Bell, navigating through decades of change and progress, and retired as a manager at AT&T. Though she excelled in her professional life, her heart always belonged to her family. She cherished her sons and found immense joy in her grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart. Marlene was known for her close-knit friendships, enjoying outings with friends, whether shopping or simply spending time together. Her church community also played a significant role in her life, providing her with spiritual nourishment and fellowship. Those who knew Marlene will remember her as a compassionate and caring soul, always eager to lend a hand. She was a classy lady, who was always “put together” and dressed up all the time. She was neat, tidy, and organized which translated into how she took care of her home, constantly putting in the work to make it better. Marlene’s infectious laughter will forever echo in the hearts of her loved ones. Marlene is survived by her sons Jon (Pam) Conant, Paul (Suzanne) Conant, and Keith Conant; stepchildren: Jamie (Meagan) Milliman, Jude (Tiffany “Tipi”) Milliman; grandchildren: Breanna, Amber, and Dylan; step grandchildren: Jude, Annika, Hannah, Colin, Kamden (Jessica) and Hannah; several great grandchildren; and siblings Patrick, Timothy, Luanne, Gerry, and Joe. She was preceded in death by: her husband Jim Milliman, daughter in law Betsy Conant, granddaughter Whitney, and siblings Mike and Gloria. A memorial service will be held at 11am with friends and family gathering from 10am-11am on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Kalkaska Funeral Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
