Eleanor Sue Lawson Maglin
Address: 3968 Hammond Road E, Traverse City, MI 49686-9130Obituary for Eleanor Sue Maglia
Eleanor Sue (Hornyak) Maglia (Susie Lawson), beloved mother and grandmother passed away in her home on April 29th, 2023.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Hornyak) Becker and Mystry (Hornyak) Chamberlain, sons-in-law, Andy Becker and Paul Chamberlain, granddaughter, Maddie Becker, and brother, Jeff Lawson. She is also survived by her beloved uncle, Steve Fasbinder and his children Beth, Julie, and Mark. She was preceded in death by her mother Nancy (Tompkins) Lawson.
Sue was born and raised in the area. She graduated from Traverse City High School in 1964. She went on to earn a bachelor’s in fine arts from Wayne State University. She returned to the area she loved and made many close friends during her years at Michigan Bell (AT&T) until her retirement.
In retirement, she enjoyed the beauty of the Northern Michigan region and pursued her passion of art until she could no longer work her beloved mediums. She hiked the trails for adventures with her daughters and friends, tended to her gardens, but most especially looked forward to the annual spring forage for the elusive morel mushroom. Her greatest joy was raising her two daughters, which doctors told her she would never have.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but she will forever be in their hearts and their lives, surrounded by her love. There will be no funeral as to her final wishes.
Please feel free to share your thoughts and memories with her family at her tribute page at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.
