TRAVERSE CITY — Brenda J. Roche, 68, of Traverse City, passed away on Sept. 16, 2015 at her home.
She was born on Nov. 14, 1946 in Traverse City, the daughter of the late Anael and Mary (Johns) Kirkby. Brenda was born at the original Osteopathic Hospital, the current location of the Traverse City Elk’s Lodge.
She married Richard “Rick” Roche in 1973 and was the loving mother of their children, Brian and Bree.
Brenda, a lifelong local resident, was a graduate of Traverse City Central High School and attended Northwestern Michigan College. She worked for a variety of companies in the area. Brenda was a masterful chef, she enjoyed knitting, gardening, stained glass, internet friends, Facebook and entertaining, but mostly she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving Brenda is her husband, Rick; children, Brian and Bree; grandsons, Quinlan, Collin and Bryson; brothers, Tom (Betty) Kirkby, of Elk Rapids and Fred Kirkby, of Ypsilanti; sisters-in-law, Bobbie DeLong, of Traverse City and Ruth Ann Roche, of Freeland; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Brenda’s life will be on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 3 pm at 376 Highview Rd. in Traverse City.
