Nick joined the Army at age 17 and remained in the Army Reserves six years with an Honorable discharge.
Nicholas married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean Sieffert, on April 24, 1965. Together, they enjoyed deer hunting and many trips to the Upper Peninsula with friends and relatives. Nick loved playing guitar and singing old country music songs. They started a family in 1967.

Nick also built his own well drilling machine and started and continued his business, Nick’s Well Drilling, until he retired.
They moved to Honor, Michigan, in 1999. They loved the area and their home with all of the birds and animals, especially deer hunting and deer camp.
