September 16, 2018: Traverse City, MI. Marilyn Achard, 72, of Traverse City, passed away surrounded by love at home on September 16, 2018. She was born May 30, 1946 in Traverse City, to Vike and Ida (Forton) Hanell. Marilyn Married James Achard on April 22, 1967 and they enjoyed 51 beautiful years together. She enjoyed her years of nursing, from working in the first four-bed cardiac unit at Munson Medical Center to labor and delivery and finally to a perfectly fitted job for her in hospice, before retiring. She spent many years having fun, loving, and caring adventures with family and friends, which was always filled with amazing, sweet treats for all. Surviving is her husband, James Achard; three children, Tim (Vicki) Achard, Tommy (Jim) Horn, and Troy (Jill) Achard, all of the Traverse City area; two sisters, Sandy (Frank) Steiner, of Freeport, Illinois and Beverly (Gary) VanRaalte, of Traverse City; grandchildren, Kaleb (Kelli) Austin, Kaitlyn and Bridgette Horn, Kenal (Alex Shenk), Zayden, Evander, and Journey Achard; great-granddaughter, Ryley Shenk; several nieces and nephews, and adopted brothers, Gordon, Roger, Steven, Bryand and Rod Bennett, originally from Junction City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her father, Vike Hanell; and a grandson, Traisen Achard.
