Bruce Fisher, age 77, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on July 8, 2024.
Bruce was born on August 19, 1946, in Traverse City, Michigan, to Don and Jayne (Robbins) Fisher. He grew up on a farm with his two older brothers, Phillip and Larry. He attended local schools where he learned to play the piano and trumpet. Bruce graduated from Traverse City High School. He also spent his childhood enjoying the company of his friends and family.
Bruce served honorably in the U.S. Navy and was deployed on the USS Forrestal during its fire and the USS Kittyhawk. After his military service, he remained active in the Vietnam National Honor Guard, showing his support during parades.
He held various different jobs over the years; working for McDonald Dairy delivering milk, Surveyor for Wilcox and Associates, and driving the local Greyhound bus, transporting passengers from Traverse City to Toledo, Ohio. Making conversations with all the passengers along the way.
He loved golfing, frequently visiting local courses, and was a devoted fan of Jeff Gordon’s NASCAR racing career. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting. He had a sweet tooth for anything chocolate but he especially enjoyed Lemon Meringue Pie. He had an impressive record collection, everything from classic rock music to John Denver and Willie Nelson. He spent hours playing his favorite game Yahtzee with his family, often exclaiming, “What a waste of sixes!” whenever he got a Yahtzee with sixes.
Bruce is survived by his two daughters, Lisa (Mark) Harrand and Treena (Jeremy) Guntzviller; his two grandsons, Hayden and Wyatt Guntzviller; and his brother, Larry Fisher of Traverse City. He is preceded in death by his parents, Don E. Fisher and Jayne (Robbins) Fisher, and his brother Phillip Fisher of Apache Junction, Arizona.
