OBITUARY: Daniel (Dan) Robert Bachant, age 77, of Milan, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 6, 2024. He was born August 3, 1946 in Traverse City, to Celeste Marie (Rossi) and Robert Thompson Bachant. After graduating in 1964 from Traverse City Senior High School, he attended Northwestern Michigan College and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in marketing at Ferris State University.

Growing up in Traverse City, Dan loved skiing and spending many free hours sailing who along with his father built the family sailboat. In his later years, life brought him to the Saline/Milan area where he met his wife of 35 years. He loved writing poems and creating ink drawings for her and together they enjoyed traveling to visit the many lighthouses of Michigan.

A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Dan is survived by his wife Barbara (Cosner); his daughter Christine (Joe) Quinnan of Howell, son Robert (Beth) Bachant of Lake Ann, and step-daughters Julie Posey of Whittaker, Kristen (Allan) Jones of Belleville, Valerie (Chris) Hoelzer of Milan, and step-son James Posey of Clinton, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a beloved Aunt Annie (Bachant) Wissner of Cadillac, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, Dan is preceded in death by his sister Suzette “Suzie” Neiderheide of Hersey, Michigan.

Memorial service will be held at Oakwood Church, 9074 Whittaker Road, Ypsilanti on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM.
